Yearly Resolve

Well - another year has passed already! Where does the time go?! I hope everyone enjoyed a happy holiday season with their friends and family and that your new year is off to a good start. Just like many people I like to set intentions for the new year, and I make a few specific business goals to work towards as well.

Here is 2013 In Review:

I am happy to say that I checked off most from my list last year (I kept it pretty simple). You can read more about them here:

  1. Watch Star Wars: And I liked it!
  2. Read: Not as much as I would have liked, but that Business of Design was great!
  3. Socialize: social media is challenging, but I'm off to a good start!
  4. Get smart phone: CHECK! Thank you Santa :)
  5. Content Create: Still always a goal
  6. Blog once a week: I only missed one or two weeks!

Now onto resolutions for 2014.

I have high hopes for this year, and there are lots of fun plans in the works. I'm on my first business trip of the year for a product brainstorm session, and if you're in the NJ area you might have heard some of the buzz about the Mansions In May designer showhouse which will be fun to see! Below are some specific goals to help grow my business this year.

Start a Monthly Newsletter!

I'm excited to start this and if you haven't signed up already you can from the link below! On the 15th of each month I will send out a newsletter that will recap the past month's events and talk about upcoming ones. It will also include links to each week's blog posts, pins of the month, and other news from facebook, twitter, and in the design world in general. In addition it will mention any promotions that will run throughout the year. If you haven't signed up yet you can do so here!

Resale Ready
I am interested in growing my business to include more Resale Ready this year. This service takes the same principles as a redesign and uses what you have to stage your home. It's cheaper than rentals and faster since it's completed in one day. To read more about those services read from my menu by clicking here: http://www.innovatemyplace.com/resale-ready/

Blog Every Wednesday
Consistency is important, so in an effort to be so I will blog not only "once a week", but every Wednesday. (Ahh, it's Wednesday already!)

Network locally

I began researching different organizations last year and narrowed down a few that I would like to join. It's been really fun getting out and meeting other business owners in the area! I'm looking forward to seeing what connections I can make this year and I'll update my website with the affiliations I join.

Work Smarter Not Harder
In general I think technology is amazing and makes life simpler. Sometimes though it's hard to figure out how it best applies to a specific task. My goal is to simplify my processes and streamline them digitally when possible. This way I can work from anywhere and stay on top of things - which in the end leaves more time for FUN!

Social Media
So this one instantly gets easier and more fun now that I have a smartphone! I am still learning how to use it but my goal is to have better follow through and more interaction. I plan to add a few tools including google voice, skype, and digital payment options for consultations. I've also started an instagram account if anyone wants to follow! http://instagram.com/andreavalledesigns

Go Paperless
Again this ties into working smarter, but technology is pretty amazing and I love my office to feel zen-like every time I need to work. So I try to digitize my information and reduce the amount of papers laying around. Next on my list is to get one of those neat receipts - anyone ever use those?

So those are my business goals for the year! I like to write them down and check back in every now and then to see how things are shaping up. Do you make resolutions each year, either personal or career related? I'd love to know!

Cheers,
